When going beyond EMDR basic training and having flexible options is important.
You want to feel more confident in using this amazing psychotherapy because basic training was a lot of new information to take in and retain. You might feel comfortable in some phases and not so comfortable in others, or you may struggle with conceptualizing cases because you’re still trying to understand Adaptive Information Processing (AIP). You want some support but your schedule is already packed so too many standing appointments can be difficult to schedule in. I provide personalized options with a nice mix of didactic refreshing as well as case consulting and advanced practice options.
For some, larger certification programs can feel intimidating or overwhelming so the commitment becomes more of a barrier and then the needed consultation and support is not received. Here you’ll find a more boutique style of offerings because we schedule individual hours based on your personal goals and availability! While you need time to practice and implement what you learn, I offer lots of flexibility because let’s face it, life calls for it. The minimum hours required by EMDRIA for certification candidates are certainly not meant to be rushed through. That said, I’ve found offering a comprehensive format can help to ensure nothing slips through the cracks as sometimes can happen when jumping in and out of drop-in groups. Here you have the choice and having some flexiblity in how you schedule and break up your hours over time can is simply trauma-informed. We all have different learning styles and schedules so it’s not a one size fits all when it comes to consultation. Individual hours might be more spread out for longer ongoing support while you’re meeting the additional EMDRIA requirements. Whether group or individual hours, my comprehensive consultation style ensures all phases of the standard protocol are covered and more importantly, competently understood. A supportive space is offered in-person or online, whether ‘as needed’ for case conceptualization or for those specifically interested in certification.
Having been a teaching assistant and consultant at numerous EMDR basic trainings, adjunct faculty at both graduate and undergraduate levels of university, and now an EMDRIA Approved Advanced Training Credit Provider for continuing education and workshops, I pride myself in delivering information in a practical way. I am passionate about coming alongside therapists to provide the support we need as fellow humans, to normalize the common struggles we often share, and to ensure that the therapists I work with feel competent in their skillset so they can continue to do this beautiful healing work! Be sure to take a look at my specialties and feel free to contact me via email to discuss fit and scheduling. Rate options can be found here.
There are several different reasons a therapist seeks EMDR consultation. Things I tend to hear:
“I’ve completed basic training, but it was a lot of information and I’m struggling to apply what I’ve learned.”
“I completed basic training, but I don’t feel as competent as I’d like so I don’t even use EMDR in my practice.”
“I work with really complex cases with dissociation, blocking beliefs, and tough attachment wounds, and don’t even know where to start.”
“I completed my training years ago and could use a little refreshing.”
“I only feel comfortable using EMDR in person, so I don’t offer it online.”
“I feel pretty confident, but I have a case that I’d like to consult on for support.”
“I’ve completed basic training and I want to get certified!”
“I want to transition my practice to an intensive model or start offering intensive options.”
