Adolescents 13-18

Are you worried you don't recognize the teenager living in your home anymore? You feel shut out and they won't talk you because they don't think you'll understand.

You want your teen, the one that may be using negative means to cope, to have a safe space to be themselves. I specialize in helping guarded or 'angry' adolescents navigate through the intense emotions they experience during this confusing stage of development.

  • History of childhood Trauma

  • Emotion Regulation (Often referred to as Anger Management)

  • Defiant Behaviors

  • Coping Skills

  • Unresolved Grief/Loss

  • Attention/Focus

  • Anxiety

  • Depression

  • Self-Esteem/Self-Worth

  • Substance Use

  • Self-Harm

  • Mood related Issues

  • Life Transitions

You may have heard other professionals use the following diagnostic terms in reference to symptoms your teen may present with, or you're specifically looking for therapy to address:

  • Substance Use Disorder (SUD)

  • Oppositional Defiant Disorder (ODD)

  • Attention-deficit/hyperactivity disorder (ADHD)

  • Posttraumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD)

  • Acute Stress Disorder (ASD)

  • Generalized Anxiety Disorder (GAD)

  • Major Depressive Disorder (MDD)

**It's important to know that any work involving teens has been shown to be more successful by involving the family. You see, families work as systems with the action of one affecting the entire family unit. Please note that working with your teen will at some point involve family sessions. All parents/guardians need to be on board with engaging in and supporting the therapeutic process, otherwise I am likely not a good fit.
